Hall of Fame museum honors Stillwell

By May 23, 2019No Comments

A significant source of Texas heritage and the Old West is attributed to pioneer ranch woman Hallie Stillwell, an iconic woman who has been an instrumental part of Texas women’s history.  The Stillwell Ranch Store and Hall of Fame Museum are located about 45 miles south of Marathon. There are full hookups for RVs, and tent camping sites, and the museum offers self-guided tours.

The museum was dedicated to Stillwell in October 1991 in celebration of her birthday. In 1992, Hallie was inducted into the National Cowgirl Hall of Fame, and in 1994 into the Texas Women’s Hall of Fame. She died in 1997, two months shy of her 100th birthday. Stillwell’s legacy lives on, and she has inspired a multitude of people, especially Texas history fans
