Gathering called a great success

By March 26, 2020No Comments

After its board last year announced the end of the Texas Cowboy Poetry Gathering’s 33-year run, no one thought it could be done. But event organizer Bob Saul and the Lone Star Cowboy Poetry Gathering Board of Directors pulled off what many thought was impossible.

“It was a great success,” said Saul. “We had more people than we expected. That was very good, and no performers dropped out.”

Saul congratulated the board, and board members returned the compliment. Sales of tickets, branded merchandise, performer CDs, and other merchandise exceeded expectations, and some sessions, including the popular Youth Poetry Contest, had standing-room-only crowds.

Planning for next year’s Gathering is now underway, and it’s scheduled for Feb. 19-20. Saul said he and board members have already received emails from people wanting to buy tickets for the 2021 Gathering.
