The Museum of the Big Bend at Sul Ross State University will host the 40th annual Trappings of Texas from September 17 through October 31, 2026, in Alpine. Celebrated as the longest-running exhibit and sale of its kind, Trappings of Texas showcases contemporary Western art alongside custom-made cowboy gear, highlighting the craftsmanship and traditions of the American West. The show will feature works available for viewing and purchase, with opening events expected to include artist demonstrations, receptions, and other public programming during the kickoff weekend. Visitors will have several weeks to experience the exhibition throughout the fall season.
