Fawn Kibbe said that she leased 6,000 square feet in the eastern half of the old J.C. Penney store at Holland Avenue and 5th Street in the heart of downtown Alpine. It will feature furniture with a western décor, jewelry and gifts for a 10 year old or a 90 year old,” she said. “It will be Texas rustic, not artsy.” Some furniture will include cowhide with a unique design. Pottery will be mostly Texas-made items. “If you need a quick birthday gift, we will have it,” she said. Items also will include soaps and candles. “I have found Alpine supports itself,” Kibbe said. “Tourism is really great, but this is more for the local people.”
