Diane Moore aims to raise the hospital’s star rating. She explained that CMMS rates every hospital in the country with one to five stars based on patient surveys and including such categories as cleanliness, timely treatment, courteous treatment, and so on. Big Bend Regional earned four stars, ranking it among only 19 percent of all critical access hospitals in the country.

“We were very happy to have that rating, and we’re going to continue to work for five stars,” she said. “I plan on being here for a long time. I love the community of Alpine, and Quorum is extremely supportive of our growing the hospital, getting more services, and becoming a better health care center.”
