Game Warden of the Year awarded to local officer

Bo Hancock is one of five game wardens assigned to this area, and he was recently honored as Game Warden of the Year. Hancock, an Air Force veteran, and dog handler was undecided at first on what direction he wanted his post-military career to take. “I was really interested in search and rescue, and more specifically with the use of a dog. There aren’t very many paid options in that career path because most of them are volunteers. Lucky for me, the time frame in which I was separating from the military and looking for a new career, the Texas Game Wardens had just established a K-9 program, so that really drew me to the job,” Hancock stated.
