The Chisos Basin Construction Project has been delayed from 2025 to May 1, 2026. This project is estimated to take two years to complete and will fully replace the Chisos Mountain Lodge and overhaul the water system. Limited lodging options will reopen mid-September but the main lodge and dining room will remain closed. The Lost Mine and Window Trail are currently open and accessible. During construction, the entire Chisos Basin will be closed, including Basin road and all trails in the area. This also includes The Lodge, campground, restaurant, visitor center and camper store. The rest of Big Bend National Park will remain open.
