On Jan. 14, more than 100 people attended the grand opening of Big Bend National Park’s new Fossil Discovery Exhibit, including representatives from Mexico’s Natural Protected Areas bordering the park along the Rio Grande, and a paleontologist from the Museo de Músquiz in Coahuila. The exhibit showcased the park’s nearly complete fossil record spanning 130 million years, and was the result of a partnership between Big Bend Conservancy and the national park working together to raise funds for the project.
